Magdalena Bay is a pristine and ecologically rich destination on the western coast of Baja California Sur, Mexico. The bay is sheltered by barrier islands, creating a tranquil environment and the perfect breading ground of sardines, that later create the "Mexican Sardine Run"  in which marlins, sea lions, dolphins and whales participate.

Sardine Run: Each year, vast schools of sardines migrate through the bay, creating a spectacle as they move in dense formations. This attracts a variety of predators, turning the waters into a dramatic scene of survival.

Marlin Hunting:   The bay is also a prime hunting ground for marlin and mahi-mahi, which are often seen in pursuit of sardines. These fast predators add excitement to the sardine run, with their powerful, agile movements.

Sea Lion Colonies:   Large colonies of California sea lions inhabit the bay, often seen basking on shores and rocky outcrops. Their presence contributes to the rich biodiversity and dynamic interactions within this remarkable marine environment.

Orcas and Whales: Orcas and Whales are drawn to Bahía Magdalena by the abundance of prey. Orcas occasionally patrol the bay, while sperm whales hunt in the deep offshore canyons.

Bahía Magdalena offers a front-row seat to some of the ocean’s most dramatic natural events, from the sardine run to encounters with top predators and thriving sea lion colonies.
